LIFE FRANCA promotes flood risk anticipation and communication in the Alps.
The project includes the creation of a training course with specific seminars for different professionals with the objective of improving their skills in managing and communicating risks to the public.
Flood risk communication addresses complex and sometimes controversial issues, and has to deal with different degrees of risk perception.
It is not sufficient to simply provide technical and scientific information from experts. Citizens and stakeholders must be informed and educated, but also assisted in accepting the risk and encouraged to take measures to reduce it.
The course is intended for different professionals, including administrators, journalists and specialists, who will address the issue of risk communication from different perspectives.
The programme will be available in Autumn 2017.
